Frontline Management (BSB07) Training
Qualifications in Frontline Management are the most popular generic qualification in Australia and an
essential ingredient for the effective development of up and coming supervisors and managers.
What is a Frontline Management qualification?
The Frontline Management initiative was developed to help Australian organisations to improve productivity
and management performance in the frontline from team leaders through to line managers with responsibility
for the strategic direction of the business.
The Frontline Management qualifications in the new BSB07 Business Services Training Package have been developed
under the Australian Qualifications Framework. The new BSB07 Business Services Training Package is a revision
of BSB01 Business Services Training Package. It contains all of the fields and domains contained in BSB01.
A Training Package is an integrated set of nationally endorsed Competency Standards, Assessment Guidelines
and Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications for a specific industry, industry sector or
enterprise.
They offer nationally recognised qualifications that can be taken at a range of levels from Certificate I to
Vocational Graduate Diploma.
The qualifications incorporate units from frontline and strategic management domains. The qualifications are
applicable to anyone with management responsibility across the full variety of organisations within the
Australian economy.
Forsythes IT & Training are currently offering the following qualifications from the new training package:
- BSB40807: Certificate IV in Frontline Management
The Certificate IV is designed for workers in team leader, supervisory, front desk or line management positions.
At this level frontline managers provide leadership and guidance to others and take responsibility for the
effective functioning and performance of the team and its work outcomes.
- BSB51107: Diploma of Management
The Diploma is designed for middle managers. It requires a sound theoretical knowledge base and managerial
competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate own work and/or the work of a team.
Qualification Rules
The Certificate IV qualification reflects the role of individuals who take the first line of management in a wide
range of organisational and industry contexts. They may have existing qualifications and technical skills in any
given vocation or profession, yet require skills or recognition in supervisory functions. Typically they would
report to a manager.
The Certificate IV qualification is made up of 10 units of competence, consisting of 4 core units and 6 elective units.
The Diploma qualification reflects the role of individuals who are engaged to manage the work of others or to add value
to or review management practices. Their role may be in any industry or organisational setting. Typically people in these
roles will have considerable experience in their respective industries or vocational areas and couple an informed
perspective of the specific work requirements with their managerial approaches.
The Diploma qualification is made up of 8 units of competence, consisting of 5 core and 3 elective units.
